Ubuntu 9.04 Laptop Computer

I have a Laptop computer that is around 5 years old. It is using UBUNTU 9.04 (in 2013); and is also bootable to Ubuntu 12.04.

No longer has 9.04 UBUNTU UPDATES.

Needs Floppy Drive code to use.

Ubuntu is GNU/Linux; like DOS is Disk Operating System, for MSDOS.

To use a FLOPPY DRIVE:

Click 'Applications' (at toolbar).
Click 'Accessories'.
Then, Click 'Terminal'- type "gksudo gedit", and enter PASSWORD.

Next, Click 'Places' (at toolbar).
Click 'Computer'.
Click 'Files System' (icon).
Click 'Etc' (at file browser).
Click 'Modules' ( a text file) - type "floppy" below the word; LP.

Click 'Save File' (icon).

To format a FLOPPY DISK:

Insert the floppy disk, and open a 'terminal window'.
Type "dmesg" to check if the floppy disk was recognized.
Type "sudo umount /dev/fd0" if the floppy disk is accessed by the computer.

Type "sudo mformat -f 1440 A:" this formats the floppy disk, for Ubuntu.
